The international award-winning artist presents in her cityscape -paintings a tense relational structure between representational and abstract design elements. Her blurry, intermingling color compositions allow the viewer an individual walk, the dipping or the rapid trip through cities and metropolises. Her cityscapes, characterized by absence of people show the impact of human life on the aura of the city.
Andrea Rust
For the Carinthian artist the human takes a center stage in her work. Her works demonstrate a dazing image of todays, mostly urban society. Mankind deprived of its naturalness and part of a "social-network" sham community, surrounded by an ever-increasing technological, hostile to life, global environment, adapts to changing circumstances.
The city is a centralized, zoned large settlement with its own administrative, government and healthcare structure and is located at the intersection of major roads. To survive in this highly dense environment, the human as an individual is forced to develop his personality extremely.
This exhibition is the first of a three part series of exhibitions by BIENNALE AUSTRIA association presenting the approach of six Austrian artists on this topic.
