Pump lifecycles on microfilm, Bornemann Pumps is allowing DRS to digitize the microfilm archive
The company Bornemann Pumpen is allowing DRS Digitale Repro-Systeme to digitalise the microfilm at DRS Digitale Repro-SystemeAfter having managed the current paper and drawing diagram digitally for some time, in 2006, Bornemann-Pumpen was faced with the challenge of converting the archive in the form of microfilm jackets into digital form.
The goal was to digitalise 80,000 microfilm jackets. The documents output to microfilm in part showed very heavy signs of aging.
These old documents in particular proved to be a special challenge for the DRS scan team.
Automatic cropping and alignment of these very low-contrast documents required a high degree of precision of the DRS and extensive commitment in the subsequent quality control.
The desired legibility was not always achieved in the documents saved in the binary TIFF G4 format. For this reason, Bornemann also received the documents in grey scale format in addition to the binary documents in order to use this document for reference if the results were not clear.

PROJECT PARTNERS
BORNEMANN PUMPEN GMBH
FROM PUMP PIONEERS TO SYSTEM PARTNERS
Since the company was founded in 1853, it has been the goal of the company to respond with its own technical solutions and to resolve tasks in a reliable and cost-effective manner. A milestone in the process of achieving this claim was the development of the two-spindle screw spindle pump with external bearing, which was patented in 1934. Then in 1969, the three-spindle pumps were developed, in 1966 eccentric spiral pumps and in 1985 multi-phase pumps.
Today, the focus of production lies on the two-spindle screw spindle pumps. Its mastery of this technology and its ability to adapt to all requirements ensures Bornemann a top position worldwide. Representative offices and subsidiaries throughout the world guarantee immediate, professional support in all phases of the collaboration - from immediate consultation to professional engineering and reliable service of installed pumps and systems.
DRS Digitale Repro-Systeme GmbH
DRS has successfully developed a completely automatic scanner technology for microfiches and microfilm jackets.
The Oberhausen company produces and sells the DRS DIGITIZER worldwide and is expanding the service centre at the Oberhausen facility.
Numerous customers can attest to the quality of the DRS Digitizer and the service.
The DRS DIGITIZER is used by numerous German authorities as well as by the US Department of Defence and by Canadian Pension Insurance Institutions.
Foreign service centres within Europe are primarily equipped with systems.
Due to the use of modern, future-oriented CCD flat chip technology and a high-performance microfiche feed system, the DRS Digitizer is able to convert very large quantities of analogue microfiches with high quality demands and microfilm jackets quickly and with excellent quality into different data formats.
Extensive information on applications and references for banks, insurance, publishing companies, archives and industrial companies are available upon request.
