Telecom executives head to South Africa for solution focused summit

01-31-2013 03:10 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications

Press release from: GDS International

1st February, Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA – Taking place this April, GDS International will host their third Next Generation Telecoms Summit Africa, which will serve as a platform for the most senior professionals within the industry to discuss the real-life challenges and issues affecting their organisation.

Industry estimates suggest that the number of mobile subscribers in Africa has exploded from 16m in 2000, the year when mobile overtook fixed subscribers, to reach 246m in 2008 and more than 500m today.* Despite this huge potential, the technology and communications systems that allow operators to capitalise are often less apparent.

Alexander Michael, Chief Analyst at Frost & Suillivan said ‘Africa has leapfrogged years of development on other continents to become the most dynamic market in the world. The revenue potential is certainly exciting. Africans have a conservative, risk averse approach to investment. Operators continue to focus on cost control, but a significant amount of public-private partnerships have been forming to facilitate the investment.

Over the two and a half days of the NG Telecoms summit delegates representing some of the region’s biggest telecom operators will have the opportunity to participate in one-to-one meetings, an interactive workshop and round table program, plus network with 65 fellow executives to discuss the implementation of effective solutions and strategies.

Delegates already confirmed for the event include:
- CIO for Smile Telecommunications
- Group CCO for Expresso Telecom
- CCO for Telecel Zimbabwe
- CCO for Telekom Networks
- COO for Mobitel

The NG 20, a senior steering committee of industry experts, create a cutting edge and educational program for the summit, ensuring that the event sessions address current issues relevant to the entire audience. With our experienced delegate team hand-picking all attendees these discussions will produce high-value, practical content for everybody involved.

The NG Telecoms Summit Africa – ngtafricasummit.com – will take place on the 23rd – 25th April 2013 at the Arabella Western Cape Hotel, South Africa.

If you are interested in attending or sponsoring the event please contact Charlie.bestall@gdsinternational.com.
