Munich Innovation Group Announces Availability of the Hartmann Folding Bicycle – Winner of the VW Think Blue Campaign 2011

Munich, Germany (January 2013) – Munich Innovation announces the availability of a new folding bicycle generation in terms of usability, comfort and size: the Hartmann folding bicycle.

Protected by a utility model and a patent pending, the Hartmann folding bicycle has two major advantages over the current state of the art in folding bikes: extremely compact packaging and unprecedented driving comfort.

The Hartmann folding bike folds quickly and easily into a small package which is optimized for the stowage in cars. It can be packed upright like a suitcase in the trunk of a mid sized car due to its ingeniously designed shape. This allows the stowage of at least three folding bikes in parallel in the trunk. It even fits into most spare wheel spaces.

It also provides unprecedented comfort with its exclusive front wheel suspension system making the ride much smoother than with a conventional build which is important for the smaller tires used with folding bikes.

Hartmann’s folding bicycle has won the Volkswagen’s Think Blue Campaign in 2011 and has since been improved on the design and its intellectual property protection.

“If we manage to improve the system ‘car & folding bike’”, says Markus Hartmann, the designer of this new folding bicycle, “we provide people with the possibility to easily switch between transportation modes both for spontaneous and regular users.”

“This new folding bike design can be kept stored in the car at all times without overly blocking the trunk for other luggage” explains Hartmann.
