Publisher Sponsors Drive to Support Operation Backpack

Speculative fiction and game publisher Bards and Sages announced that the company has pledged to use 50% of its profits between July 25th and August 20th to help purchase supplies in support of Operation Backpack.

Operation Backpack is a program launched by Volunteers of America to help provide homeless children and children at risk with much needed school supplies.

"Every year, tens of thousands of homeless children start the school year without the most basic of supplies," explains owner Julie Ann Dawson. "I've been privately supporting this program for several years, but decided it was time to do more to raise awareness of this issue."

"Our goal is to get people thinking about the very simple little things they can do that have a positive impact in their own communities," continues Dawson. "Sometimes, something as simple as a backpack full of school supplies can be a deciding factor as to whether or not a homeless child drops out of school or continues to seek an education."

Dawson says proceeds from her campaign will be used to buy supplies for the Delaware Valley drive. Her company website (http://www.bardsandsages.com) includes information on how individuals can directly support their local drives.
