The country is completely surrounded by Senegal except for the Gambian west coast on the Atlantic Ocean. The Gambia lies on both sides of the lower reaches of the partly picturesque natural paradise, the Gambia River. The river is also the nation's namesake, flowing through the centre of The Gambia and emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. According to an estimate by a Gambian journalist, the small country has a population of slightly less than 3 million. Banjul is the capital and also the country's largest metropolitan area. Larger cities are Serekunda and Brikama.

My assessment of The Gambia as a holiday destination:

The Gambia is becoming an interesting destination for more and more Europeans. The weather is very pleasant and guarantees bathing pleasures even in winter. The short journey time of about 6 hours by direct flight from Europe also speaks in favour of the country. You can talk to everyone here in English and there is an excellent supply of vitamin D, even at Christmas. Christmas decoration at the Mica Apartments ... The country invits guests at Christmas with an European decoration.

My assessment of this friendly country and Mica Apartments:

The Gambia is a great country and offers excellent holiday quality in winter too. Now the Europeans need to experience what The Gambia has to offer... Here you can spend Christmas in pleasant summer temperatures on the beach of the nearby Atlantic coast or the pool of the Mica Apartments. The short distances (e.g. 6 hours by plane from London) to Banjul are also pleasant and so are the people in the country. Add to that a low crime rate and a pleasant sunny climate all year round. My assessment of The Gambia in a few words: the country is a haven of welcome and Europeans feel right at home here. I did not know Gambia before, but can now call it my favourite destination in West Africa....
