Genome engineering is the synthetic assembly of complete chromosomal DNA that is more or less derived from natural genomic sequences. In 2015, AstraZeneca plc entered into research collaborations with The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, The Innovative Genomics Initiative, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Broad Institute/Whitehead Institute to use their CRISPR technology for genome editing.
