Grundig Business Systems opts for feature-rich DigtaSoft and DigtaSoft Pro

Chicago, IL, USA – Grundig Business Systems, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional dictation solutions, is consolidating its dictation software into two discrete, feature-rich packages: the standard DigtaSoft software and a DigtaSoft Pro version geared to larger networks. From now on all Grundig dictation systems will come equipped with the appropriate software package.

DigtaSoft

The standard DigtaSoft software is ideally suited for those new to digital dictation, as well as for smaller sized networks with up to ten users. In addition, two authors and two typists can be managed as external users via the Internet or via e-mail. One new feature of DigtaSoft is that it allows dictations transferred from mobile device to PC via USB or docking station, to be directly edited by the user at his or her workstation. If a client’s network expands beyond ten seats in the future, an upgrade to DigtaSoft Pro version is available at a cost of US$ 60.

DigtaSoft allows users to select from two predefined user functions - author and typist. The author has full permissions, with the ability to record, save, modify, play-back and delete dictations; the typist has play-back permissions only. The software automatically recognizes which user has logged-on and assigns permissions accordingly, thus ensuring that no unauthorized user can modify or delete dictations.

DigtaSoft Pro

DigtaSoft Pro is designed to meet the needs of medium to large networks and includes several additional features over and above those in the standard DigtaSoft version:

- An export function that allows dictations to be converted to another file format.
- All users and functions can be managed centrally.
- The user can clearly define passages for play-back, using a marking function to tag the beginning and end of the relevant portion of a file.
- The dictation note function allows the filing of additional information in the DSS standard such as author, status, selected typist or priority. The DigtaSoft Pro version automatically displays the dictation note together with the dictation file.
- Support of thin client networks, for example Citrix.
- Central network licensing for concurrent users via DigtaSoft license server on Windows or Citrix networks.

Thanks to an intuitive installation wizard the new software solutions can be installed quickly and easily without the need of a system administrator. A lawyer, for example, can directly install the software on his PC via the master installation. He then creates profiles for his office users on the system, complete with name, password and relevant user function. Finally, those users install the configured solution from an authorized folder via the network onto their own workstation. Everyone can start work simultaneously according to his/her user function by simply clicking on the software icon.

Introducing the DSS mover

The DSS mover tool function is included in both versions and is by far and away the easiest way to download files. It is geared towards mobile users and portable devices can be configured to individual requirements. As soon as the device is connected to the PC via USB or docking station the DSS mover recognizes it and responds according to the particular configuration set. For example, it can be set to collect all completed dictations from the mobile device and file them away in a specified location on the PC; alternatively, all directories on the device can be copied one by one into the PC's folder structure.

Where voice recognition systems are in use, the DSS mover can automatically collect speech files from the mobile device in the DSS format and change them into the required format before sending them onto the voice recognition program.
