Medway Council Delivers Secure Remote Access to Workers and Partnerships with 2X ApplicationServer XG

Users benefit from simple and secure remote access to applications from any desktop or mobile device for a fraction of the cost of Citrix XenApp

Crewe, Cheshire, 28 Nov, 2012 – 2X Software, a global leader in Desktop and Application Delivery today announced Medway Council have implemented 2X ApplicationServer XG to deliver applications from their data centres in the Kent and Medway Region to remote workers and partnerships.

Previously Medway Council used Citrix for network bandwidth reduction and compatibility across a wide client base, however, there was a need to allow load balancing, standardised terminal servers and remote working which would not have been financially possible using Citrix.

The council now uses 2X ApplicationServer XG to publish over 40 applications from high end bespoke finance suites, to low end, low use legacy applications. On average there are about 200 published application users online at any one time and 50 terminal services users.

“We have found 2X Application Server XG to be the best value in today’s market,” said Tony Hales, Principal Server Administrator for Medway Council, ‘We like it’s flexibility in configuration when load balancing applications and good use of our Active Directory. It is relatively easy to set up and administrate, whilst the management console is uncomplicated and free flowing.”

“As our business continues to make more use of terminal services and remote working we are looking at increasing our terminal services ten -fold, we will be looking to expand our 2X farm in both load balancing and application publishing to service the demands required to deliver a trouble free efficient experience,” concludes Hales.
