Press release from: Ethnolink

Ethnolink inspires Monash University’s next generation

Yesterday, our team at Ethnolink spoke to Monash University’s Masters of Interpreting and Translation Studies students.

Among those who spoke at the presentation were our CEO, Costa Vasili, and multicultural communications experts from across all branches of our organisation, Cloe, Rachael, and Bethany.

Each member of our presentation team comes from different language backgrounds and has a different role within our company. As such, they each have their own unique perspective on the industry to share.

“The students learnt a lot from Ethnolink’s passion and enthusiasm,” says Shani Tobias, a lecturer for Monash University’s School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics. “This will inspire many of them to pursue a career in the industry.”

Our aim yesterday was to share not only our company’s vision, but also to equip new translators with knowledge and rare insights into the inner workings of the industry and the many career opportunities available to them.

A recurring struggle that we see in aspiring translators is that they are often uncertain of how to break into the industry and find work. On this, Costa had some great insider tips to share.

“Building a network is fundamentally important for success in our industry,” Costa says. “Translation and localisation professionals, especially, have found LinkedIn to be an incredible platform to connect.”

We were very excited to be invited back to Monash to speak again. This was a special opportunity as many of us are Monash grads who have, in fact, taken that very same class!

As always, it was a delight to see students with such a passion for translation, and we are keen to see them find success in the industry in the future.

Ethnolink is always sharing industry tips with both new and experienced translation professionals through our blogs and webinars. We also offer internship opportunities for aspiring talents who share our passion for multicultural communication!
