The socket is a highly individual part of a leg prosthesis, since it constitutes the link between the residual limb and the prosthesis. Running, bending or standing – movements occur in the socket during all activities. To ensure the greatest possible wearer comfort, it is therefore important to tailor the combination of liner and closure system to the specific needs of the user. In order to present a quick overview of the options, the new Ottobock website is now online.

The combination options are based on the needs of the user, the shape of the residual limb and finally what is termed the mobility grade. After all, a user who spends a lot of time sitting down puts different demands on the prosthesis than someone who is out and about a lot and participates in sports. The website also illustrates the everyday life of people with a transfemoral or transtibial amputation. It shows how they live and what system they use.

For very challenging residual limb conditions where a standard liner cannot be used, Ottobock offers individually fabricated custom liners. Most liners are also available with the optional SKINGUARD Technology antibacterial additive. It prevents unpleasant odours from developing.
