Jeremy McGilvrey's Website Design Tips

Jeremy McGilvrey's Website Design Tips

Jeremy McGilvrey, San Antonio, Texas (Open PR) Designing a website that promotes your business in the best way possible is all about the design. You don't need a degree in web design to make effective websites, you just need the right information to know what works well and what does not. Keep reading for these Jeremy McGilvrey's tips that take the design of your site to the next level.

If you're designing a website, you need to look at your website in multiple browsers. What you're seeing on your end may not be what others are seeing on theirs. Be sure you research all of the popular browsers that people are using and then design accordingly. You will also want to send your site to someone that's using a different operating system so you can see that their browser is compatible with yours.

When you're thinking about how to design a website, you need to be sure to think about the navigation. You want your navigation to be easily accessible and easy to use. Put the navigation bar on every page in a noticeable place. Also, make sure that it flows well with the rest of your page and doesn't distract visitors.

Incorporate a tagline prominently on your website. A tagline is a motto or statement that expresses what your business is all about. Using a clear tagline is important because when someone visits your page, you have roughly eight seconds to capture their attention and entice them to explore the rest of your site.

Although it is common to see www. at the front of a website URL, you should try to make sure that you can access your site whether you choose to include it or not. This will make it much easier for anyone to access it regardless of how they type it.

Keep your page sizes to a minimum. Not all internet users have fast connection speeds, and the longer your site takes to load, the less interest they will have. You do not want your page viewers to be stuck waiting for every page to download, or they may end up abandoning your site.

To help your website visitors find their way home on your site, always include a link to your homepage on each page of your site. Having a home page link that is visible allows your reader to easily make their way back to the starting point. If you do not have a home page link then your visitors might get frustrated and leave your site altogether.

Keep the sizes of your files and images small. Excessive loading times are a death knell for any site. The larger the files are that must load, the longer a user's load time is going to be. Most users will click away if the page doesn't start to load within the first few seconds of opening your page.

Wherever your logo appears on your site, you should accompany it with a complementary slogan or tagline. Ideally, this tagline should be catchy and informative and should offer some basic summary of the purpose of your site or product offering. The combination of your logo and tagline should appear on every page to create a sense of cohesion.

Make sure your website uses a consistent font throughout. Some websites change fonts willy-nilly without any design reason to do so. This makes the content difficult to process for visitors. Most websites, especially business websites, will do just fine sticking to basic fonts like Arial, Veranda, or even Times New Roman.

The tips you just read give you a variety of ways to build an effective website when you properly employ the techniques from above. You'll be surprised at what you can accomplish with the right knowledge. So, apply what this article has taught you to create a well-designed website to promote your business.
