Save-A-Pet Joins Brookhaven Animal Shelter at Barkfest 2012

(Port Jefferson Station, NY) — Join Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. and the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter at Barkfest 2012, Long Island’s largest pet costume contest and parade. The event will take place on October 28 at Holiday Inn Express, 3131 Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook, starting at 1 p.m. The event will be presented by Save-A-Pet, Holiday Inn Express and JVC Broadcasting.

See some of the best-dressed animals on the planet strut their stuff for the Halloween season for a chance to win special prizes. Music and judging will be provided by JVC Broadcasting radio stations “Party 105” (105.3 FM), “La Fiesta” (98.5 FM), “My Country” (96.1 FM) and rock station WRCN (103.9 FM).

Last year, 400 people came out for this festive event. Admission is free, with the option of making a donation to Save-A-Pet. All animals are welcome, but please make sure that all dogs are placed on a leash and all cats are brought in by a carrier. All animals must be current with their vaccinations.

“We would like to thank JVC Broadcasting and Holiday Inn Express for their support and help in putting on this event,” said Dori Scofield, President/Founder, Save-A-Pet and Director, Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter. “This is a fun event for all pets and pet owners, and those who attend can learn about the benefits of adopting an animal, as opposed to purchasing one from a pet store.”
