The 4th World LNG Series: Asia Pacific Summit was held from 10-13 September 2012 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, hosted by organiser, The CWC Group.

The Summit is known in the industry as the most important international meeting for LNG buyers and sellers, this year the Summit brought together some 300 attendees from over 30 countries in Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America & the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Delegates heard from over 50 speakers representing the major players in the LNG industry from across the globe and received essential updates on their business.

Major topics in the global and regional LNG market were discussed, including: the impact of unconventional gas on the LNG industry; the outlook of traditional and emerging LNG markets; LNG as a road and marine transportation fuel; new supply projects in North America and East Africa; and changes in the LNG shipping market.

The event ran for four days with over 25 presentations, two panel sessions, two interactive master classes, a ‘buyers and sellers meet’ roundtable, a site visit at the Sembawang Shipyard and as always networking was a key feature of the Summit, kicking off with BG Group’s welcome drinks reception on 10 September.

This year also saw the First CWC LNG Asia Pacific Innovation Award Gala Dinner at the world-famous Raffles Hotel in Singapore. This year’s winner was Cheniere, for pioneering US LNG exports. Cheniere has signed SPAs with two major Asia Buyers – KOGAS and GAIL. It was the first company in the US to contract long-term SPAs with Asian buyers based on Henry Hub gas price. Through their commercial innovation, US LNG exports could have a major impact on LNG pricing and liquidity in Asia.

Charif Souki, CEO of Cheniere Energy, said: “Cheniere is honoured to be recognised by the industry for the CWC LNG Asia Pacific Innovation Award. The last year has been very exciting for our company, including the successful marketing, financing and recent start of construction for our Sabine Pass liquefaction project. We are pleased to have entered into export agreements with Sabine Pass, and we look forward to expanding our relationships in the Asia Pacific region on new projects in the future.”

Martin Lambert, Senior Vice President, NWS Australia LNG concluded the Summit by saying, “The conference continues to attract a good cross-section of representatives relevant to the LNG industry in the region.”
