A new plastic surgery technique developed by Dr. Srinjoy Saha ensures better results than ever before. It comes as a blessing to patients with traumatic forehead injuries, finds a recent study from Kolkata, India. The details of the extensive medical study can be seen here: https://bit.ly/triplafo.

A new modification in facial plastic surgery pioneered by a top plastic surgeon, Dr. Srinjoy Saha, offers an excellent solution for forehead injury treatments. The new procedure combines forehead and scalp tissues to form sizeable flaps, that are big enough to cover large defects. Ultimately, the recent technique improves the look of the face and reduces scarring.

All patients who underwent this new plastic surgery saw better results as compared to the more traditional methods. Earlier, all of them suffered traumatic injuries on their forehead from accidents or falls. Some even had parts of their brain exposed. “The enormous challenge here was to design and perform a new technique that would provide excellent cosmetic results later,” said Dr. Saha.

The new technique followed modern principles of triple plane scalp dissection. Initially, Dr. Saha designed large-and-thick flaps based on the scalp anatomy to reduce scarring. Next, he made sure that the tissue flaps were five to eight times larger than the size of each wound. Then, to improve skin elasticity, he harvested sizeable tissues from the surrounding forehead and scalp regions to cover the wound.

Most of the patients healed completely, with no apparent complications. In the rest, some minor blemishes occurred at first. Eventually, they healed on their own without forming major scars. Prominent scars were noticeable in just one patient during the last ten years. Patients reported a high average satisfaction rate while documenting their responses. In some, satisfaction rates were as high as 90%.

In the past, plastic surgeons struggled to find sufficient tissues to cover large forehead wounds. Normally, they use skin grafts or free tissue transfers from other places of the body to cover the area. But the grafted skin and transferred tissues have distinct colors and texture than forehead skin. A gross mismatch in color and contour results, worsened by scarring. Often, the ultimate results do not satisfy the patients. More details about facial plastic surgery can be accessed here: https://www.plastangel.com/facial-plastic-surgery

Dr. Saha’s technique helped patients settle back into their normal lives and be less self-conscious. “I worked hard to find an enduring solution that would improve results in all patients,” Dr. Saha said. “After performing this new technique, we got a better cosmetic result with less pain and scarring. Also, it offered an excellent alternative to more extensive surgeries like free tissue transfers.”

The new method for skin flaps could be useful in other areas of the body as well. An innovative way of harvesting tissue and designing skin flaps would help patients with challenging wounds. Patients can expect to see better results with reduced scarring.

All these details were a part of a new study that sheds light on how surgeons can improve eventual results while treating patients with large forehead injuries. Dr. Srinjoy Saha, one of India’s leading plastic surgeons, carried out the study in Kolkata that spanned more than a decade. “Our ultimate aim was to improve the facial appearance of all trauma survivors,” he said.

Dr. Saha published his technique and results in a top Thieme journal to encourage others to use the modern technique. After knowing about the details, other plastic surgeons opined that his method is more efficient and less complex. To them, it’s a tremendous boon for treating any difficult forehead injury.
