- Urges thorough research, verification into false news regarding Vaccine

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- CivSense, a Pakistan-based Civic Sense awareness initiative, has lauded the government and NCOC's efforts on a successful anti-COVID-19 vaccine campaign in the country.

In a statement issued in Islamabad today, the Co-founder of the CivSense Dr. Mahwish Sohail said: "Despite constraints and criticism, the role of Government of Pakistan, specifically National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has been timely and effective. We have had our teams visit vaccination centers and talked to the visitors regarding arrangements."

"Of those surveyed, two-third of the citizens have expressed complete satisfaction on the arrangements. This is a major achievement although we had limited resources," Dr. Mahwish said.

Dr. Mahwish appreciated the decision of priority vaccination to the educators. "Teachers are the cornerstone of every nation's success. It is heartening to see that as we open our schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions, the government has addresses the need of prioritizing their health."

She urged all citizens over-19 to get themselves registered by texting their CNIC number to 1166 or visit

Praises WHO's Covax

CivSense also praised the World Health Organisation's global shared vaccine program Covax for over 100,000 Pfizer's vaccine doses. The announcement of the vaccine's arrival was shared by Unicef Pakistan earlier.

"Pakistan is set to receive a total of 17.2 million doses under WHO's program. We feel that this compliments every single Pakistani's effort to curb Covid-19 for good. Covax gives inclusivity and access to vaccines to everyone around the world," CivSense head added.

"Verify False News"

While rebuking propaganda around the vaccination drive, CivSense co-founder Raza Mumtaz Rao emphasized verification of all news and reports regarding the vaccination. "There is an influx of false reports and statements encircling the global vaccination campaign. This is a major challenge as it creates wrong notions and unwanted apprehensions against the Covid vaccine."

"It all comes down to an individual. It is seen that such material is received and shared via the internet, social networking platforms, and messaging apps, While companies like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp are doing their best to stop such info, a lot of times we see people sharing such information without verification," Raza said.

He announced: "We are working on a CoVerify platform under CivSense's project - #EhtiyatKeroNa. We will verify and research every single news, report, or material on the matter."

"CivSense urges our citizens to rely only on credible information sources. If you still have doubts, do your own research and verify if it is correct or not. But avoid being a part of the chain spreading unverified news," he added.

Offering resources

The statement further quoted Dr. Mahwish as saying: "Crisis Communication is the key especially in the time of adversity. We observed that NCOC has done a commendable job in averting the crisis by keeping the people well informed, well in advance." She added: "Fighting this pandemic is our duty. Being responsible citizens, we need to do our bit as every little help."

"Being a civic sense initiative, CivSense offers all our resources for the awareness of the anti-Covid vaccine drive. That is part of our mission towards enlightening and making our citizens on our rights and responsibilities," the statement concluded.
