New Delhi, July 16, 2012: Hanjer Biotech Energies (“Hanjer”) has been awarded the prestigious Golden Peacock Award 2012 for Eco-Innovation in Waste Management and Recycling. Hanjer has been selected for this prestigious award, in acknowledgement of its innovative, eco-friendly technology in multi-product Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing, which reduces the quantity of waste going to landfills to less than 20% thus preserving precious land resources, for more useful purposes and reducing cost to municipalities. Hanjer does this without charging any processing cost to the Municipal Corporations.

The Golden Peacock Award was presented by Hon. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Govt of the NCT of Delhi, during the Inaugural Session of the 14th World Congress Environment on Management to Dr. Irfan Furniturewala, Promoter, Hanjer Biotech Energies, in the presence of M F Farooqui, IAS, Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Lt Gen J S Ahluwalia, PVSM (retd), President, Institute of Directors, India, Dr S. Y. Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, H.E. Peter N. Varghese AO, High Commissioner, Australia High Commission, P. Uma Shankar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Govt of India and Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee IAS, DG & CEO, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
