Save-A-Pet Names Erica Kutzing Director of Operations

(Port Jefferson Station, NY) —Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. has announced that Erica Kutzing has become the shelter’s new Director of Operations.

When she was 13 years old, Ms. Kutzing earned the Junior Volunteer Award from Save-A-Pet, which commended all of the good work she was doing for the center. Her volunteer work consisted of cleaning, feeding, socializing, training and caring for the animals. She also took on the challenging and rewarding work of fostering animals in need. This responsibility involved taking in litters of kittens and puppies into her home to care for and bottle-feed the orphans. Since 2000, Ms. Kutzing has fostered and placed over 250 animals in loving homes.

Prior to being named Director of Operations at Save-A-Pet, Ms. Kutzing worked at Jefferson Animal Hospital in Port Jefferson Station, where she assisted with surgeries, cared for a large assortment of animals and became educated in veterinary medicine. On her lunch breaks, she would walk next door to visit Save-A-Pet.

“We are thrilled to have Erica join us as our new Director of Operations,” said Dori Scofield, President, Save-A-Pet. “We are confident that she will continue her exceptional work of caring for the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Long Island.”

An avid animal lover, Ms. Kutzing keeps an assortment of animals at home, including her one-year-old blind Pitbull “Tye,” who she rescued at just two weeks old, her six-year-old Pomeranian “Talulah,” her tailless cat “Bunny,” and her eight-week-old blind kitten named “Colette.” She resides in Port Jefferson.

“I am thrilled and honored to be named Director of Operations and feel blessed to have turned my passion in life into a career,” Ms. Kutzing said. “I thoroughly enjoy each day of work and my caring co-workers, dedicated volunteers and inspirational mentors have made each day at the shelter a joy.”

Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue Inc. was established in 1994 and is located in Port Jefferson Station. Save-A-Pet works with The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter, to place homeless animals into new homes with loving families. All of the animals that come to Save-A-Pet are spayed, neutered, tested for diseases and vaccinated. Prospective adopters are thoroughly screened and matched with the most suitable pet for them and their family. Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill shelter and is a safe haven for all of the animals that enter it.
