Press release from: Emerge Clinical Solutions

(Dallas, Texas) June 21, 2012 – How can doctors diagnose the right tests and procedures when they are no symptoms?

Emerge Clinical Solutions, the creator of premier clinical decision support software, today announced nuclear appropriateness update 3.1 that allows for diagnose of both symptomatic and asymptomatic conditions.

In medicine, patients are simpler to diagnose when they show clear symptoms or signs of disease or injury. However, often an illness is asymptomatic, which means it is present but does not demonstrate obvious symptoms. Asymptomatic patients can be a real challenge for the medical community since asymptomatic illnesses are particularly difficult to discover and diagnose, especially when they are in early stages.

In Cardiology specifically making the correct diagnosis can be challenging, especially evaluating conditions for women and minorities. Emerge’s real time clinical decision solution helps doctors increase diagnosis efficiency and accuracy by filtering comprehensive patient data and history through our rules engine and patented algorithms.

The software has been proven to increase identification of certain cardiac diseases by as much as 300 percent. The Emerge rules engine performs more than 8,000 calculations in seconds to help doctors elect the most appropriate testing and procedures and choose a care path.

“Asymptomatic conditions are difficult to uncover, but they are no less threatening to a patient’s health. Emerge’s agnostic software can process data exponentially faster than any human brain, so it helps doctors find the right solution quickly. Time is of the essence when it comes to cardiology, and we help doctors decide the best care path without losing time on unnecessary testing,” said Emerge CEO Scott Finfer.

Cardiologists are often overwhelmed with the volume of information and data to consider when evaluating patients. Medical research is constantly updating the latest field developments, and when cardiologists make a diagnosis, the potential number of variables they must consider can stretch into the billions.

Emerge’s software simplifies the decision process and brings the last 20 years of cardiology knowledge to the doctor’s fingertips. The system merges seamlessly with any electronic medical record integrating in real-time.

The software automatically documents practices’ adherence into the patients’ medical record alleviating administrative headaches. The algorithms utilize the appropriate use criteria and guidelines from the ACC, AHA and HRS. The software exceeds Stage One Meaningful Use Requirements of the HITECH Act as well as the proposed requirements of Stages Two and Three.

“Diagnosing is often more art than exact science. Our diagnosis support solution helps doctors reach more accurate conclusions more quickly, resulting in more appropriate predicable care with fewer emergency visits. Our software saves patients, doctors and the healthcare industry money, time and stress. We believe it will ultimately help save lives,” said Finfer.
