Local Pet Shop is a Dogs Best Friend Thanks to their Expertise and Kindness

It’s been a hard year for many, particularly non-profit organisations, where fundraising and donations are heavily relied on. This rings particularly true for Wheels to Paws UK, a Lincolnshire based organisation which takes in dogs from all over the World who have been mistreated either intentionally, or their owners are no longer able to care for them to a proper standard.
Claire-Louise and the team rely heavily on donations to help care for the 27 dogs currently in rehabilitation, but thanks to their once-local pet shop, these dogs are still well on their way to good health. Originally based in Milton Keynes, Wheels to Paws UK and Kennelgate Bletchley struck up a true friendship over five years ago, when Claire-Louise needed nutritional advice for some of her rescue dogs.
Even after moving over 220 miles away, the Wheels to Paws UK team still visit the Bletchley store to pick up their dog food, treats and essentials. It’s not just food either, as well as donating thousands of pounds worth of dog food to Wheels to Paws UK, manager Craig and his team are willing to go that extra mile to help dogs in need.
Claire-Louise tells the story of Rylan Clarke-Neal, a pup who came to her at just two weeks old after being sold under false pretences to an unsuspecting owner who wasn’t equipped to care for such a young puppy. “The team were quick to help, recommending products which were suitable for such a young pup and even finding us a dog pushchair we could use to help care for Rylan, thanks to their help he is now thriving”.
The now long-distance friendship isn’t tarnished however, Craig often calls Wheels to Paws UK when customers are asking about rescue dogs “It’s like we have an extra side to the Bletchley team” says Craig “when customers are enquiring, I know Claire-Louise has responsible contacts for helping to re-home dogs so we can help find them their forever home, and we continue to see them return to store for their essentials and treats!”
