05-21-2012 07:21 PM CET | Arts & Culture

Press release from: OnCell Systems

OnCell, a leading mobile technology service provider to cultural sites and institutions, recently launched its free OnCell App for Android mobile phones and tablets. The app allows users to experience hundreds of multimedia tours when visiting museums, zoos, gardens, historic sites and parks around the country. The tours can also be taken “virtually” from any location. OnCell’s interactive mobile tours feature audio, images, video and social media network sharing.

"At OnCell, we're always looking for more unique avenues to make tours available to visitors," said Thomas Dunne, President and CEO of OnCell. "The Android platform is a great new way for our clients to feature their tour content and meet their mobile interpretation needs for visitors carrying Android phones.”

The OnCell Android App allows OnCell clients to offer their content in the Google Play Store at a fraction of the cost of having their own custom Android App developed. Visitors carrying Android phones simply search “OnCell” in the Google Play store to download the app.

The Android app, built for a mobile audience, allows guests to experience a fully interactive mobile tour at their own time and pace. Users can browse or search OnCell’s entire tour list, stream an audio tour, view images, watch videos, read text captioning, view multimedia slideshows, follow a Google pinpointed tour map, visit a tour’s home website, leave comments, rank points of interest with a star rating, share the tour via social media, and subscribe to e-communications campaigns.

Android App users can access the OnCell App through the Google Play Store here: http://goo.gl/ZYYdQ

An OnCell App is also available for the iPod, iPhone and iPad.
