Village Pubs Offer Free Christmas Dinners To Local The Community

A website set up during lockdown to connect the community with local pubs offering take away services has teamed up with local pubs to offer free Christmas dinners this year.
Website staying-inn.co.uk allows members of the local community to donate Christmas by ordering from local pub Christmas dinner menus.
Free Christmas dinners can be ordered from any of the participating pubs by asking for a 'Staying Inn Christmas Dinner'. No questions asked!

Coleorton / Northwest Leicestershire – 5th December 2020:

"Many people will be stretched beyond their means this Christmas, or unable to visit friends and family, as a result of the impact Covid19. I hope this scheme goes some way to helping those in need get through what is going to be a very different and difficult Christmas."
- Matt Foster.

The Free Christmas Dinner scheme helps both our local pubs, who have struggled considerably this year, and the most vulnerable members of our society. Christmas dinners are paid for - or donated - by members of the community, helping to keep the pubs in business. In turn, the pubs offer these Christmas dinners for free to anyone calling and quoting 'Staying Inn Christmas dinner'. It is hoped that this scheme will benefit the most vulnerable members of the local community.

According to Coalville Food Bank, 1 IN 5 of the UK population live below the poverty line. For many this means making a decision to eat or keep their homes warm this winter. Coalville Food Bank offers 3-day emergency food parcels to those most in need as well supporting longer term solutions.

"By donating a Christmas dinner this year, we're helping to eek that 3 day food parcel out just a little bit farther."
- Matt Foster.

Three pubs have signed up to the scheme so far: The Cross Keys in Newbold, The George & Dragon in Thringstone and The Angel Inn in The Moor. Dozens of Christmas dinners have already been donated.

END.
