ISBR Business School, Bangalore granted approval to increase PGDM seats from 120 to 180 by AICTE

ISBR Business School, Electronic city, Bangalore (one of the top ranked management colleges of India) has been granted approval to increase its PGDM seats from 120 to 180 by AICTE. The expansion will come into effect from the academic year 2012-2014. The approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was given earlier this week and will translate to a dream come true opportunity for the wait-listed candidates.
Mr. Manish Kothari, Chairperson, ISBR Business School said that the management institute was very happy that the sanction was given so early by AICTE. “We had applied in January this year and the permission came about two days ago. AICTE has done it quickly this year. This will allow right candidates to take an admission to our business school opportunity".
When asked whether this management institute had the infrastructure to accommodate so many more students, Mr. Manish Kothari said that it was only after the infrastructure was in place that the application was put forward to the AICTE. “These are parts of AICTE compliances. Without them, we would not be able to even apply.”
On asking if too many good b-schools were now competing for the highest scoring talent in the Common Admission Test (CAT), MAT, XAT etc. for ISBR Business School to fill up the additional 60 seats, Mr. Manish Kothari said that the admission system for ISBR Business School differed greatly from that of the other management institutes. “Other management institutes go more strictly by the scores. We do not. For us, the past academic performance, the interest level, his overall personality etc. of the student is also very important i.e. if a candidate has a good overall profile, he will be of interest to us.”
According to Mr. Manish Kothari, 2000 applicants apply to ISBR Business School every year for the PGDM program. Of these, 1,000 reach the interview level and only 600 get to the second round of interview. Finally, 400 students are ranked for the final admission list.
ISBR Business School will however start inviting applications for the extra 60 intake very soon.
