Local San Clemente Dentist Offering Free Screenings For Oral Cancer Awareness Month

San Clemente, CA. — Orange County, CA family dentist Dr. Eric Johnson has made it a priority over the years to be actively involved in the local community and helping individuals and families in the OC in as many ways as possible. In April 2012, in recognition of Oral Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Johnson is offering free screenings to folks in the Orange County area.

"Oral cancer is one of those conditions that can be very difficult to detect, especially in its early stages" Dr. Johnson says. "And if not detected until its latter stages, the survival rate is much lower. But with a proper awareness of the dangers and regular screenings, this disease can be caught early on and in most cases treated successfully."

The Oral Cancer Foundation is promoting Oral Cancer Awareness Month, and encouraging dentists to conduct at least 3 hours of free screenings in their local community. Dr. Johnson's office is going far beyond this recommendation by offering free screenings throughout the month of April.

"We want to make sure we screen as many folks in the community as possible, so we can do our part to stem the spread of this disease" Dr. Johnson continues. "This is why we're waiving the $93 screening fee throughout the month of April and offering as many free screenings as our appointment calendar will accommodate."

In most cases, everything will check out just fine and they'll be good to go. However, if I detect any signs of oral cancer, I may recommend further testing."
