India's leading spine surgeon, Dr. Shishir Kumar will be conducting a public education webinar titled "No operation!" to spread awareness about the non-surgical management of spine diseases. This public webinar is free to access across the world and is scheduled for 11 a.m. IST on Sunday, 22nd Nov 2020. It will comprise of a 30 minutes talk by the expert followed by a live Q&A session of 15 minutes duration, for all the participants. This is part of the global public awareness mission 'Shishir Spine', launched by Dr. Shishir Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, the renowned and one of India's best spine surgeons, Dr. Shishir Kumar said, "Our experience and research tells us that most of the people worldwide think of spine disease as a very dangerous and disabling problem that can only be corrected by major surgery. There are many fears, misconceptions and myths in their minds that we want to dispel through our public education initiatives. This webinar is the third in our series launched on World Spine Day 2020 and will focus on non-surgical, conservative management of common spine diseases. We request the media to give this event wide publicity so that maximum people can benefit from this session. We shall also share some knowledge articles and videos on this topic and hope to continue this public initiative in the coming months."

Dr (Lt Col retd) Shishir Kumar (MBBS, MS, MCh, D Ortho, PDF) is a Graduate and Post Graduate from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, one of the premier institutions in India. Dr Shishir has had 24 years of commissioned service in the Indian Army, twenty of them as a surgeon. He was instrumental in introducing ‘Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery’ into the Armed Forces and was the only surgeon carrying out ‘Scoliosis’ and ‘Advanced Deformity Correction Surgery’ in the Army. He has had more than 13 years experience in Spine Surgery and headed the largest ‘Spinal Cord Injury Center in Asia at Military Hospital Kirkee Pune. His aim is to bring ‘Safe Spine Surgery’ at the doorstep of the common man. Dr. Shishir is currently heading the Deptt of Spine Surgery at Metro Hospital, Delhi and Noida.
