Imperato Calls it again: Trouble in East Africa

Press release from: i1connect

West Palm Beach, 6/04/07 FL – After the recent activity in Somalia and East Africa, i1connect took the time to see what current US Presidential Candidate Daniel Imperato had to say about the region.

A U.S. warship attacked a suspected al Qaeda target in northern Somalia on Friday, CNN reported, and residents said missiles pounded hills where foreign jihadists fled after clashing with local forces.

Those suspects were wanted for the embassy bombings too, and were attacked near a coastal village where Islamist leaders fled after being routed from the capital Mogadishu by the Somali interim government and its Ethiopian military allies.

Washington says six al Qaeda operatives or associates are in Somalia, including alleged embassy bomber Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, and Abu Talha al-Sudani, accused of orchestrating the 2002 bombing of an Israeli-owned hotel in Kenya that killed 15.

In a February 2006 press release, Imperato stated, "Bush must make sure that, if he doesn't want the spread of drug trafficking, the spread of money laundering, the spread of terrorism, which is already being established in the East African countries, he must act now." (Imperato. 2008 White House Contender on United States and Yemen… Al-Bawaba. February 2006).

Imperato pointed to his previous calls for action, as a sign of his knowledge of global affairs, and his ability to lead our nation.

"Based upon the fact that I have requested immediate attention to the region of East Africa, pertaining to the al-Qaeda influence, it makes me very happy because it proves once again that I have the wisdom, knowledge, and ability to point out issues, and come up with solutions."

"Unfortunately, I am not the president at this time, but hopefully, the American people will see the fact that I called out our leadership to address this issue. Once again, several months later, which in my opinion was long overdue, our president decided to take the time to address this issue."

Imperato, since his initial February 2006 remarks, has called out for the Bush administration action on this issue on several occasions (See "Imperato Leading Independent Presidential Candidate Speaks Out on the Footsteps of Bin Laden..." September 11, 2006).
During his release, "Leading Independent Presidential Candidate Imperato Speaks Out about Israel, the Lebanon Conflict, Iraq, Yemen, and East Africa", August, 03, 2006, Imperato spoke as to the severe nature of the East Africa Situation,

"But the biggest mistake other than the fact that our children are dying is that the decoy is not only blindfolding the American people and the rest of the world about the situation in Iraq, but it is allowing Bin Laden and his organization to infiltrate East Africa through the country of Yemen. The elections are coming up soon and if the USA doesn't do something to head off the leadership in Yemen, mark my words that not only will the conflict expand into Syria and Iraq, but the third war in the region will strike up in East Africa. I hope and pray that our leadership takes the time to listen to my words because the terrorists are flooding East Africa through Yemen while we are all watching Hezbollah and forgetting about Iraq."

Back in February, the Bush administration recognized the looming threat of terrorism in East Africa and setup an African Command Center to strengthen security in the region.

Yet, the African Command Center has still not stopped the presence of al-Qaeda operatives and terrorism in the region.

"While I believe that our administration has finally realized the threat of East Africa, it may be too late," said Imperato. "When we were driving al-Qaeda out of Afghanistan, they fled through Yemen into East Africa to setup new bases of operation. What is most disappointing about this whole situation is that we allowed the Taliban to regain their power, so now the al-Qaeda influence runs from Afghanistan to East Africa. America needs to take action on this situation and, we need to take it now."

Once again, Imperato has accurately diagnosed the state of global affairs. His 30 years of experience must give him the knowledge, wisdom, and ability to effectively make decisions for our country. Time and time again, he has seen events happen before they do.
