Press release from: The Lanier Law Firm

SHERMAN, Texas – The Lanier Law Firm is announcing a series of patent infringement lawsuits filed on behalf of Longview, Texas-based Titanide Ventures LLC against a group of companies accused of infringing patents covering cloud storage technology.

The lawsuits are filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division, against Mountain View, Calif.-based Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG), Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO), Los Altos, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ), and Los Altos, Calif.-based Box Inc. The contested patents are Titanide Ventures’ U.S. Patent Nos. 6,714,968, 6,735,623 and 6,952,724.

The patents cover systems that provide seamless access to remote data storage via a global computer network. The technology allows users to store e-mails, photos, documents and other digital content online and access it from any computer.

According to the lawsuits, the defendants are infringing the patents by offering and selling data storage products and services that utilize the patents. These services include Google Storage, the Box File Sharing Service, Yahoo!’s Flickr photo storage, HP Departmental Storage and HP Network Storage Systems.

“We believe this is another instance where major corporations are infringing on the ideas and technology of a smaller company,” says Christopher Banys, head of The Lanier Law Firm’s nationwide intellectual property practice. “Our hope is that this lawsuit will hold these defendants accountable for profiting from our client’s patented technology.”

Titanide Ventures is represented by attorneys W. Mark Lanier and Dara Hegar from The Lanier Law Firm’s Houston office, and Mr. Banys and Daniel Bedell from the firm’s Palo Alto, Calif., office, and Wesley Hill from the Longview office of Ward & Smith. The cases, filed March 22, 2012, are Titanide Ventures LLC v. Box Inc., No. 4:12-cv-160, Titanide Ventures LLC v. Google Inc., No. 4:12-cv-161, Titanide Ventures LLC v. Hewlett-Packard Co., No. 4:12-cv-162, and Titanide Ventures LLC v. Yahoo! Inc., No. 4:12-cv-163.
