Edalex wins 2020 APAC EdTech Venture Competition
Edalex, an EdTech company on a mission to surface learning outcomes, digital assets and the power of individual achievement, were selected as the inaugural winner of the Future of Education in APAC, EdTech Venture Competition. The competition, a program run by Creatella Ventures, and supported by EdTech heavyweights AWS EdStart, EduSpaze and Blackboard, attracted submissions from 167 EdTech startups from more than a dozen countries across the Asia Pacific region. More than 50 seasoned investors, business angels, VCs, mentors, accomplished entrepreneurs and senior industry experts, from both the startup and corporate world provided mentorship and judging across multiple rounds of the competition, held throughout September and October.
Edalex’s winning pitch focused on their Credentialate platform. Credentialate, the world’s first Credential Evidence Platform, aligns closely with all three competition themes of Future of Education, Distance Learning and the Future of Workforce.
Credentialate was developed in close collaboration with Group of Eight (Go8) design partner UNSW Sydney, in support of a multi-year, cross-faculty micro-credential community of practice and research project. Credentialate securely extracts, analyses and presents personalised qualitative and quantitative evidence with the digital credential. Employers can in turn immediately validate achievements and assess candidates beyond their grades, through the more holistic view Credentialate provides.
“To win against such impressive competition is a great validation of Credentialate, our vision and its positive impact for learners and institutions,” said Dan McFadyen, Managing Director of Edalex. “This recognition reinforces that Credentialate is bringing meaning to micro-credentials by giving learners a voice for their workplace-relevant skills.”
