Opening with Premier McAllister

The ZHT Centre for Healthcare Technology of the PFH Private University of Göttingen combines orthopaedic expertise with scientific competence. It is a unique facility in the world and its goal is to raise the quality of patient care to a new level. The facility was officially opened on Monday, March 19, 2012, by the
President of the PFH, Professor Dr. Bernt Sierke. Premier of Lower Saxony David McAllister, Professor Hans Georg Näder, CEO of Ottobock, and Professor Cornelius Frömmel, Dean of Göttingen University Medical Centre, welcomed the guests.

The ZHT run by the PFH occupies 800 square metres on two floors of the
university hospital. Here, new laboratories, seminar rooms, workshops and
patient care areas provide excellent working conditions for learning, teaching,
and research.

The bachelor degree programme in orthobionics already began in the autumn
semester of 2011/12. The focus is on orthotics, prosthetics, and biomechanics as
well as medical applications, business administration, psychology and patient
management. A part-time masters degree programme in medical orthobionics
aimed especially at licensed physicians and a sports/rehabilitation engineering
programme will begin in 2012.

"The Centre for Healthcare Technology combines science and business in an
impressive manner," stressed Premier David McAllister. The PFH works closely
with Ottobock to develop its study programmes. "The implementation of this
study programme closes a gap between the internationally established trade of
orthopaedic technology and the future of patient care with its extensive
technological possibilities," Professor Hans Georg Näder pointed out.

He predicted the graduates would have excellent career opportunities anywhere
in the world. Other cooperation partners of the PFH are the Federal Academy of
Orthopaedic Technology, the Federal Trade Association, the International
Society for Prosthetics und Orthotics (ISPO) and the Göttingen University
Medical Centre.
