Approval of Daimler India and IEC ISO 17025 Accredition for SGS Lab in Chakan, Pune (India)

A recently opened SGS testing center in India has already gained two important accolades. German vehicle manufacturer Daimler has granted its official approval to SGS lab as per its internal assessment of the center. The SGS laboratory has also gained IEC/ISO 17025 accreditation for chemical and physical testing.

The SGS Testing Center near Pune, India has succeeded in gaining the official approval of Daimler India, the result of Daimler’s own assessment of the new SGS laboratory. In confirming the high levels of performance by SGS, it also acknowledges the SGS focus on world-class standards of quality. This makes it the only laboratory in the country, and one of only a select few in the region, to gain the German engineering giant’s approval.

The on-site audit and review by Daimler covered the management practices, expertise and experience of the team as well as the technical abilities of the facility. It formed part of a global study with stringent criteria to classify the OEM’s service providers. The Indian team was keen to gain the coveted approval, because Daimler India, which goes under the name of ‘Bharat Benz’ locally, is due to launch 12 new models over the next two years.

In addition, the SGS laboratory has secured IEC/ISO 17025 accreditation. Documented in their report, the auditing body heaped praises on the SGS facility, staff, technology, quality management system and health and safety competence. For automotive and hazardous location products, the scope of IEC/ISO 17025 certification covers both chemical and physical testing.
