BHR Medical receives US Patent Approval for Innovative Arterial Expansion Chamber for Hemodialysis Bloodline Sets

BHR Medical developed a new arterial expansion chamber for hemodialysis bloodline sets. This innovative invention reduces the interaction between blood and air in the arterial expansion chamber. As a consequence, the consumption of Heparin, Erythropoetin and Iron can be reduced considerably.

BHR Medical has now received the US Patent Approval for this new innovative product. The patent is based on a significant reduction of the blood-air-interaction area and has the positive effect that Erythrocytes are less damaged, consequently resulting in a higher Erythrocyte survival rate, followed by a significant reduction of administered Heparin, Erythropoetin and Iron. A clinical evaluation has been initiated to assess potential savings of this effect. The results are expected to be published during Q2.2012.

The considerable reduction of Heparin, Erythropoetin and Iron results in substantial cost savings for hemodialysis providers.

The EU Patent Approval was received in 2010 and the product is CE marked since 2011.
