Meine-Spielzeugkiste convinces Jason Calacanis in US-Show ”ThisWeekInStartups”

Berlin, February 21, 2012 - After being broadcasted from Seoul, Paris, London and Chile the influential US Startup Show „ThisWeekInStartups“ hit Berlin on February 17 this year for the first time.
The fledgling Berlin-based startup Meine-Spielzeugkiste (engl: my toybox) did not only reason with the jury, consisting of Business Angels and Investors, but at the same time persuaded Jason Calacanis, founder of Mahalo and Investor, who founded and emcees the show.
“It saves me the research for the right toys and it saves me the shopping. That’s such a great idea, I want this box every two weeks, myself!” declared Calacanis with cheers.
The founder team won the pitch competition and travels to San Francisco to participate at the LAUNCH Conference

Pitching the concept in only 60 seconds, Florian Spathelf faced a Jury of Investors and experienced entrepreneurs, such as Paul Jozefak (Liquid Labs), Henrik Berggren, founder of Readmill and Editor in chief of Venture Village, Marguerite Imbert .

Narrowing down the choice, the judges where intrigued by the concept and selected him and five other candidates for the Live Show of Silicon Valley dyed-in-the-wool startuper Jason Calacanis.

Having a daughter himself, he immediately spotted the value of the product. The combination of three key services speaks for itself: The continuous recommendation of suitable toys for his kid, indispensable for the advancement and development of his child melt with a time and money saving delivery service and joined with the withdrawal of the toys after the kid’s interest’s expiration date for the plaything.

The team now has the far out chance to participate as one of 150 startups worldwide at the LAUNCH Conference in San Francisco.

The successful US entrepreneur and investor, Jason Calacanis, founder of Mahalo is host of this conference. He interviews startups coming from all over the world in his weekly live-show ThisWeekInStartups. Having already taken place in London, Paris, Seoul and Chile, the show was broadcasted from Berlin for the first time.

Around 200 spectators gathered in the coworking space “Ahoy” in Berlin, Charlottenburg to watch 19 Berlin-based startups presenting their innovative ideas, containing smartphone-apps, providing live-help for shopping-trips as well as a shortcut-trainer for daily work at your PC.
