New PCB-Round Connectors from ESCHA

Halver, 21 February 2012 - The German connector- and housing manufacturer ESCHA is introducing new M12x1 built-in connectors with right-angled contacts for the PCB assembly as of now. These are available in various coding types and polarities and meet protection class IP67 requirements in screwed condition. Moreover, they can compensate for diverse housing wall thicknesses up to 5 mm on request and are intuitively allocated to the respective fieldbus system through colored contact carriers.

The new PCB-Round Connectors from ESCHA are available in several variants and can thus be adapted to the respective application. The current product range includes 4- or 5-pole versions in female- or male housing styles with A- or B-coding. Additionally, products with D-coding for Industrial-Ethernet-applications are available. Optionally, versions with shielding plate are available for the entire product portfolio.

Upon request, the M12x1 bulkhead receptacles can compensate for wall thicknesses of 1 mm to 5 mm. For products in female housing style, this is achieved with three different locking nuts which – depending on wall thickness – guarantee a standard distance between mating face and locking nut.

Due to the large number of connectivity options in modern equipment, it is frequently indistinguishable at first sight, which flange intended for which fieldbus system. Though, there is the possibility to distinguish the flange based on its coding, but an additional color coding is even better.

In order to intuitively allocate the flange during the wiring, ESCHA already offers colored contact carriers for its bulkhead receptacles with straight contacts. This option is also available for the new variants with right-angled contacts. Thereby, the contact carriers are adapted to the cable color of the respective fieldbus system substantially enhancing protection against mismating and clearness in the system. The result is a safer and more cost-effective installation.

In addition to the standard color black, there are flanges with the typical fieldbus colors violet (Profibus), green (Industrial Ethernet) and grey (Can Open/DeviceNet). Furthermore, blue and yellow contact carriers are possible.
