North American growth in cloud computing market is key driver for expansion

SANTA CLARA, CA – 15 February 2012: OnApp, the leading innovator in cloud and CDN software, announced today that it is expanding its U.S. presence to support its rapidly growing North American business. The expansion includes a new office in Utah and key strategic hires across the States. OnApp also plans to grow its U.S. support staff by 50% in 2012.

OnApp’s new office, located in Logan, Utah, will be home to the company’s U.S. Level-1 support staff. Ryan Weight, First Line Support Manager, will oversee the office operations and staff. The new office will further deliver on OnApp’s commitment to provide its customers with 24x7x365 global telephone and email support. The office opens officially later this month.

OnApp has also hired a North American Director of Sales, Behshad Behnam, who is based out of Washington, D.C., and a Pre Sales specialist, Chris Younger, who is based out of Dallas. OnApp plans to hire two more strategic sales positions during the next few months to support its rapid U.S. growth.

“This is an exciting time for OnApp and we’re seeing impressive growth in the North American market,” said Ditlev Bredahl, CEO of OnApp. “Our software enables hosting companies and other service providers to create their own cloud and CDN services, so they can respond to the threat to their traditional business from large cloud providers. The North American cloud market has played a significant role in our growth to date, and our new office and sales team will help us build on that growth.”

OnApp’s U.S. expansion follows news that the company added five key management staff at its U.K. headquarters, and appointed a new CTO to head up its growing development team. OnApp has completed more than 800 cloud deployments since its launch in July 2010, and now estimates that 1 in 3 public cloud hosting services are now powered by OnApp software.
