Mr Berno-H. Feuring: Visions for the leading hotels of the world:

Show kitchens, generously spaced bathrooms, theme rooms, wellness areas – not everything today’s hospitality branch claims to be an innovation, is indeed a new idea. As far back as nearly 50 years ago, Berno-H. Feuring, hotelier and founder of the group of companies with the same name, was already implementing numerous modern elements and characteristics of design and furnishing in four to five star hotels. The man from Mainz, Germany has since been known as a visionary for top hotels and is internationally sought-after for the development of business- and deluxe hotels and resorts. Berno H. Feuring celebrated his 70th birthday on April 2nd, 2007.

He is the son of a gastronome from Mainz and as such got to know the high demands of the service industry from an early age on. His father ran several restaurants. In 1958, Berno-H. Feuring started his own business at the age of only 21 and was the youngest hotelier in Germany at the time. His Europahotel Mainz – which eventually resulted in a chain of 16 hotels - was already equipped with an elevator and each room had a special lift for beverages and its own bathroom with large mirrors. The five suites had a special theme and each was furnished and decorated to reflect one of the world’s continents. From here, he also operated the guest house of the State Government of the province of Rhineland-Palatinate, and attended to Germany’s and the world’s statesmen of the time when they visited the area.

As early as 1959, Feuring founded his company Hotelconsulting Berno-H. Feuring and started offering his services on the hospitality market as hotel consultant and developer. In the seventies and eighties, he parted with Europa Hotels and has since concentrated on developing four and five star hotels all over the world. As a frequent Lufthansa flyer he was always one of the passengers to sit on the first airplanes heading for new destinations and to check out the hotel markets from Egypt to Morocco.

During nearly five decades now, Berno-H. Feuring and his team have been involved in the development of more than 400 hotels at home and abroad. Some of the more recent projects are the Le Méridien hotels in Hamburg, Munich and Vienna and the Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe in Dresden. Feuring is presently working on the concept for a spectacular InterContinental Resort in Davos and further current projects include a Hyatt Regency hotel in Düsseldorf, an InterCityHotel in Mainz, a deluxe golf resort in Greece, a five star hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as well as some city hotels in Berlin, Frankfurt/Main and Saarbrücken.

His group consists of four companies which offer high quality services for each stage of hotel development, including the fitting and furnishing and the operation of hotels. His success is proving him right – hotel chains and investors from all over the world regularly seek his advice. For years now, his sons Bardo-M. Feuring and Berno-M. Feuring as well as his son-in-law Matthias Lowin, have been at his side to actively support him in his work.

Despite his 70 years, Berno-H. Feuring has remained young at heart and still surprises with his fresh ideas – as an experienced and smart visionary at the service of the top hotel market. Congratulations!
