Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for San Marcos’ Very First

SAN MARCOS, CA, January 6, 2012 – Fan of the Feather, Inc. have just announced that the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their first transitional center will be on February 17, 2012 at 5:00pm at 3562 Grand Ave., San Marcos, CA.

This new home will be the organization’s very first transitional center for homeless veterans. They closed escrow in December 2012 and the new home will house seven female veterans. “We are so excited to be the first to provide transitional housing for homeless women veterans in San Marcos. Through the grace of God, we have been blessed with so many that have worked to support our endeavors and have had a continued faith in our vision” said Dr. Larry Wood, President and Co-Founder of Fan of the Feather, Inc.

While their initial goal is to help homeless veterans get off the streets and into secure, safe, clean housing that offers a supportive environment free of drugs and alcohol, Fan of the Feather’s programs are designed to help these same men and women (and sometimes even families) to return to independent living. Along with emergency and transitional housing, they teach life management skills, provide financial and family counseling and career development for the homeless.

Did you know that one-fourth of the entire homeless population in the United States are veterans? Fan of the Feather, Inc. is effectively working to solve the serious problem of homelessness affecting veterans in San Diego County. They provide a safe and caring environment by providing a variety of services including counseling and referral, substance abuse prevention, work skills development and veteran crisis intervention. Through their efforts, they help homeless veterans who need assistance to restore them to a normal functioning life – physically, mentally, socially, spiritually or vocationally.

Fan of the Feather, Inc. is looking forward to the grand opening of their first home and the bright future of the organization.
