Critical Link International Announces New Board of Directors

Critical Link International (CLI) is pleased to announce the new Board of Directors. This new board will serve a term of three years and is composed of the following individuals: Angela Sasso (Canada), Maria Aguilar Solano (Spain), Izabel Souza (USA), Kiran Malli (Canada), Carmen Valero-Garc?s (Spain), Naomi Morita (Japan), and Maria Wattne (Norway).

"Critical Link International's 9th Conference (CLI9), held in Tokyo last year was a huge success. 'Interpreting in the Age of AI' highlighted what human interpreters can provide and what AI is good at. We must take advantage of technology, but let's not forget about the many benefits to clients in on-site interpreting", stated Naomi Morita, new board member. In addition to the international conference held every three years, CLI promotes the professionalization of community interpreters worldwide, by promoting networking, educational, and research opportunities in the field. "This is an exciting time for CLI, as we have experienced growth in so many areas. We take this opportunity to thank the board members who have completed their terms and all the volunteers that have been the energy behind this growth", stated Angela Sasso, CLI President.

Community interpreting is a large field that is growing rapidly, involving all specializations of interpreting outside of conference and business interpreting. The most developed specializations are legal and medical interpreting, whereas there are recent specializations in development such as conflict zone and educational interpreting. "We were able to get a diverse group of leaders in the field to take us to the next level; take a moment to check their bios on our website", stated Kiran Malli, CLI Secretary.
