LOS ANGELES, November 28, 2011—The Los Angeles office of Grant Thornton, LLP welcomed Kullen Birkeland as the Southern California Tax Practice Leader.

A seasoned practitioner with more than 25 years of public accounting and industry tax experience, Mr. Birkeland spent the last 10 years leading and growing the tax practice in Grant Thornton’s Minneapolis office. He has been with the firm for nearly 30 years.

“Los Angeles is a dynamic city and the opportunities presented by the marketplace are significant,” said Mr. Birkeland. “Grant Thornton is well credentialed in Southern California and is poised for additional growth. I look forward to contributing to its progress.”

Mr. Birkeland has significant experience in various industries including retail, manufacturing, distribution, and service companies as well as serving publicly held companies. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mr. Birkeland received both his B.S. and M.S. in Taxation from the University of Minnesota.
