The Watch Hut: - Manchester United and Citizen Watches Star Michael Owen Considers Future

Manchester United player and Citizen Watches ambassador Michael Owen has been in the news recently to talk about his footballing future and to discuss his hopes for the England national side at Euro 2012 and beyond.

The player has vowed to become an Old Trafford golden oldie emulating his team mate Ryan Giggs, who is still playing regularly at the age of 37 having made 10 appearances so far this season.

Unlike the Welsh star, the former England striker has been beset with injury problem. In his most recent game, the player lasted just 11 minutes in United’s Champions League victory over Otelul Galati last week because of a thigh problem. The 31-year-old former Liverpool, Newcastle and Real Madrid striker is determined to end his career at United having signed a new one-year contract during the close season, however Owen is very much a member of the team now, as he competes for his place against Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez.

Citizen watches Ambassador Owen has made only played for United four times this season due to injury problems, but in those three games he managed to score three goals in the Carling Cup wins over Leeds and Aldershot. Manager, Alex Ferguson has promised to give the Citizen watches fan more opportunities this term – but his latest injury is another setback.

However, rumours are circulating that he and fellow Manchester United Star Rio Ferdinand could be on their way to Tottenham during the transfer window. The pair are both out of favour at United but could provide a back up to the injury hit north London side.

Owen, who is well remembered by England fans having appeared 89 times for the national side, has also been active in the press. He has been adding his voice to the view supported by many footballers including current England player Steven Gerrard, that Spurs manager Redknapp should take over as the manager of the national side following Euro 2012 and the contract expiry of Fabio Capello.
