Fans of the Lakes have a new film to enjoy

It’s time to strap on those walking boots and enjoy an incredible tour of the Lake District – by DVD.
Fronted by popular writer Mark Richards the high definition film shows the Lakeland beauty at its best.
And it comes with an exclusive walk created especially for the DVD – the Westmorland High Way.
There’s also a free Cicerone guidebook featuring the walk with the DVD and it’s sure to become an established walking favourite.
Mark, who met the famous author Alf Wainwright in his twenties, sparking a lifelong love of the Lakes, said: “This isn’t just the usual film you see of the Lakes – the production standards are exceptional and people will feel like they are walking the route with me.
“We’ve used aerial shots to show the sheer scale and beauty of the Lakes, and had some great views of the fells on sunny days to get a wide range of brilliant shots.

Called ‘Lake District Trails 1’ the DVD is set to be the first in a series covering the Lakes. It’s also available as a downloadable file.
Mark, who writes and illustrates popular walking books and features regularly on BBC Radio Cumbria’s Park&Stride walking feature, added: “In this film I’m walking what is a great new route with lots of stunning features to talk about.
“I hope lots of people who like the Lakes as much as I do buy the DVD and undertake the walk.”
Mark who has written ‘Great Mountain Days’ and the Lakeland Fellranger series says he really enjoyed the filmmaking experience.
He said: “They were long days but enjoyable – I’m just pleased to share my knowledge of the area in this way.”
Producer and director Steve Lord, of Compass Films, said: “Reaction so far to the DVD has been incredible.
“We were very lucky with the weather and people can see one of the most beautiful parts of the country at its very best.”
Steve and his plucky crew filmed Mark using high definition cameras over several days and then spent longer in the edit suite putting the impressive film together.
The Lakes film joins a series of other films produced by Steve which feature the Yorkshire Dales (which also features Mark as presenter) and North York Moors as well as the Yorkshire coast.
