Acrolinx Receives ASD Compliance for Simplified Technical English Tool
The Berlin-Based company's latest software solution will assure quality and cut costs in the aerospace industry and beyondBerlin, Germany. May 7, 2007. Acrolinx GmbH, the worldwide leading producer of quality assurance tools for technical information, has received compliance for its Simplified Technical English checker from ASD, the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe. Customers who require standard ASD Simplified Technical English, especially in the aerospace industry, can now benefit from the market leading solution for information quality assurance. The Acrolinx solution helps customers save costs and dramatically increase efficiency by encouraging reuse. Standardizing documents and enhancing their quality will also minimize the risk of safety, damage, or liability claims.
Acrolinx draws on its years of experience as the market leader in authoring support and terminology lifecycle management as the basis for its ASD-STE checker. Its language solution, Acrocheck™, offers high-profile companies a rounded approach to checking spelling, grammar, and style. Unlike plug-in solutions, it also manages terminology and provides users with standard sentences for Intelligent Reuse™. The Acrolinx ASD-STE checker is based on these functionalities, which have already been tested in practical contexts. It can therefore be integrated smoothly into the Acrocheck™ tool. Customers can also choose between different modules of the product, ranging from ASD-STE to less restrictive style rules.

The Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer, one of the largest commercial aircraft producers in the world, has recently decided to deploy Acrolinx’s ASD-STE checker.
Simplified Technical English was developed within the aerospace industry to help make English-language documentation more easily comprehensible for a multinational audience. Non-aerospace industries have adopted the guidelines of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE) in their own documentation. ASD-STE 100 is a set of Writing Rules and a Dictionary of Controlled Vocabulary. The Dictionary includes a vocabulary selected for its clarity and sufficient for expressing any technical sentence.
