Over 24,000 Trade Visitors Attended EP/Electrical Shanghai 2011 Prospers Electric Power Industry of China

China’s leading international electric power exhibition – The 2011 International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology and 2011 International Exhibition on Electrical Equipment (also known as EP Shanghai / Electrical Shanghai 2011) ended fruitfully on September 23 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, Shanghai, PR China with a record-breaking result. More than 24,000 trade visitors came to meet with hundreds of leading worldwide suppliers for acquiring international cutting-edge technology and the emerging market trends.

Flourished with Smart Grid Technologies
According to the research and development analysis by China Electricity Council, electric power industry will undergo a long term development during the 12th Five-year Plan period. In the coming 10 years the power production scale will reach 9.3 GW, with more than 9000 KW annual production and thus requires power generation equipment supply ability with 1.2 GW. During this period, the Chinese government has announced the country’s target for energy efficiency and carbon-emission control that the power industry would be attentive to green energy technology and its applications, approaching to a new stage for nationwide interconnection, ultra-high voltage, smart grid, west-to-east power transmission, high efficient clean coal power generation, renewable energy, development and applications of energy conservation technology.

In EP Shanghai 2011, exhibitors were eager to introduce diverse smart grid and green power solutions and technologies in response to these accelerating opportunities. Amongst, Hyosung introduced its automation system for substation station; Schneider’s power grid management system and automation control enhancement solutions; ABB’s comprehensive Smart Grid solutions; Tianda Qiushi's Likan series product (OPTU) for achieving Distribution Automation that photoelectric technology based intelligent distribution network terminal equipment applies world leading Farady magnetic-optic effect. OPTU sets up new standard for power grid monitoring; Siemens’ a complete range of solutions, products for the development of intelligent transmission and distributed grids as well as in the integration central and distributed power generation; Woodward (Tianjin)’s cutting-edge control and protection devices, designed to work in complex systems to meet the needs of smart grids; LS Industrial System also showcased its electric car charger system in the booth.

This premier event indicated its strong advancement with active participation of 600 renowned suppliers including 3M, ABB, Siemens, Hyosung, Hyundai, Schneider Electric, LS Industrial System, LS Cable, Japan AE Power, Chint, GE Energy/ GE Industrial System, HITACHI, Ormazabal, Pentair, Oppfly, MR China, Roechling, Wacker Chemicals, Rittal, Tyco, Scheniewindt, Yantai Dongfeng, Noark, KGE, China Electric Equipment Group (CEEG), Yongda Group, Shanghai Huaming, DINKLE, Linbo Electric, Golden Highway, XJ Group, NARI, Fushun Electric Porcelain, Shenzhen Clou Electronics, Star Instrument, etc. as well as overseas pavilions from Germany, Taiwan (TEEMA) and the United States.

Trade Visitors Ascertained the Remarkable Success
Smart grid, energy conservation and green energy are the major highlights of this edition that boost visitors’ positive sentiments towards the show.

Mr. Yuan from East China Electric Power Design said, “It is my third time to attend EP exhibition of Adsale. It grows larger every year with more advanced products presented by exhibitors from time to time. Various interested products I found today can help us in the selection of equipment and technological advancement in the future.”

Mr. Shi from Sinopec Northwest Oilfield Company stated that he could acquire the latest move and technologies of the industry which helped his purchase. He was satisfied with some exhibits especially an online testing equipment. He will visit the Beijing EP China 2012.

Mr. Suresh Kr. Agarwalla, Director of Winpower Marketing Pvt. Ltd. remarked that to cater for the coming new projects, he came to source some major products including GIS system, SCADA, breakers, tower materials, polymer insulators, isolators, etc. and had made orders during the show.

As the most influential trade expo of the industry in China, EP Shanghai / Electrical Shanghai 2011 garnered 24,820 visitors from 47 countries/regions and 1,800 overseas visitors, in which visitors from Russia, India, Iran, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR and Southeast regions attained multiple increase. They include industry foremost professionals from Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand, JSC RusHdro (Russia), Baltic Energy Company (Russia), Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, APR Energy (USA), ENERGOMASH (Russia), Tehran Province Electric Distribution Company (Iran) and more than a thousand of industry specialists from power group and power grid corporations of China.

The significant increase of the visitors is boosted by the attendance of more than 20 delegations led by trade corporations including East China Electric Power Design Institute, East China Electric Power Test & Research Institute Company Limited, Shanghai Electric Power Trade Association, Shanghai Electric Wire & Cable Industry Association, China State Construction Engineering Company Shanghai Architecture Institute, Haian Electric Corporation, Nantong Electric Corporation, Zhejiang Jiaxing Electric Power Bureau, Nantong Qidong Power Supply Company, Nanchang Electric Power Research Institute, Shanghai Communication Institute, Sinopec Northwest Oilfield Company and much more. The number of overseas delegations increases too from ASEAN, Russia, India, Iran and Korea.

Recognitions from Exhibitors
Mr. Pu of Woodward (Tianjin) Controls Co., Ltd. expressed their satisfaction towards the large show scale and both quantity and quality of trade visitors. They pursue power generation and distribution manufacturing to cater for smart grid control needs. Some tentative deals were achieved. They are ready to bring more new products and techniques to the next EP show.

Likewise, Mr. Sun from Hyosung Corporation said, “We have participated in this exhibition for many times and are able to achieve good results. As a leading company in transformers and circuit breakers, we hope to expand our presence in the power transmission and distribution aspects of China. Many trade visitors have come this time, especially we have the opportunity to introduce our products to the East China Electric Power Test & Research Institute Company Limited.”
Mr. Zhang from Zhejiang Chint Electrics Co., Ltd also appraised that EP Shanghai was the only electric power exhibition in China to be able to further promote their brands and increase their sales significantly. So they would for sure to exhibit next year.

Concurrent Events Enriched Visitors with Latest Technologies & Market News
Over 500 visitors attended the 20 sections of concurrent symposia and conferences. In the 2011 China Smart Power System Seminar, Mr. Wang Zhi Xuan, Secretary General of China Electricity Council stated the mission and duties of the power industry development and its innovations on technology. Ms. Zhang Li Ying, Assistant General Manager of State Grid Corporation China and expects from Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, SGCC also introduced current smart grid development and gave construction demonstration.

Furthermore, the “Fifth Power Quality Summit” and “Green Industrial Revolution – Energy Saving & Electric Power Automation Technology, and Automation Technology on Smart Grid” given by specialists from China Electric Power Research Institute, Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, East China Electric Power Design Institute, Shanghai East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, Shanghai Hydroelectric Engineering Society, etc. attracted audiences enthusiasm. They expounded in detail the latest hot topics such as Analysis of Smart Grid and Power Quality Problems, Analysis of New Energy Development and Power Quality Problems, Power Flow Analysis and Control of Smart Grid Power Distribution.

EP China / Electrical China 2012 Will Debut in Beijing
The organizers have announced that the next exhibition, The 14th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology (also name as EP China / Electrical China) will be held from September 26 – 28, 2012 at Beijing PR China. To link up the whole industrial chain for electric power industry, specialized themes zone will be further developed in an expanded exhibiting area of eight halls, setting the only famous international platform in China.

EP China / EP Shanghai are jointly organized by China Electricity Council and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, rotationally held in Shanghai and Beijing of China, with extensive support from major power group corporations and power grid corporations of China.
