Walgreens plans not to be a participating provider in Express Scripts pharmacy network effective Jan. 1, 2012
LAS VEGAS, NV – October 27, 2011 ScripNet, a nationwide pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) who contracts with workers’ compensation insurance carriers and pharmacies, announced that it will continue to provide access to Walgreens pharmacies as Walgreens plans to move forward without participating in the Express Scripts, Inc. pharmacy provider network in 2012.As a trusted pharmacy benefit management (PBM) provider, with Walgreens as part of its network for eight years, ScripNet will continue to offer access to Walgreens nationwide pharmacy network for its PBM clients in 2012. Meanwhile, Walgreens contract renewal negotiations with PBM Express Scripts, Inc. have been unsuccessful and, as a result, Walgreens is planning not to be part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network as of Jan. 1, 2012.
“ScripNet continues to support Walgreens and its pharmacy patients in their dispute with Express Scripts,” said Dennis Sponer, CEO of ScripNet.
