Vanam Sharma JMA Pilani Discus Throw Champion Rajasthan State Under Age 14 Category

Located in the heart of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, Pilani is well known in India today for various top ranking educational institutions, CSIR Laboratory CEERI as well as the upcoming BrahMos Missile Assembly Project unit.

Jamuna Mishra Academy – JMA established in the year 2004 which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education is presently one among the top ranking and most sought after schools at Pilani Rajasthan. JMA which started in 2004 with an enrollment of 60 students for the Nursery, LKG, First Junior and Class1 has grown today till Class VIII with well over 500 students.

While the school admits both boys and girls, the girl student enrollment has been steadily rising every year and is presently close to 50% of the total strength which itself is a matter of pride in a state like Rajasthan which had alarmingly low record of girl’s education. Vanam Sharma student of Class 8 from JMA Pilani is the Rajasthan state Champion in Discus Throw for the under age 14 category. He also did a stellar performance in Shot put. The competitions were held during 10 – 15 October 2011 at Nohar near Hanumangarh by government of Rajasthan sports authorities. The credit for Vanam's achievement goes to his father Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma who motivated him all through and Coach Shri Surendar Singh Shekhawat who himself is a sportsman of repute and had a distinguished career in Indian Railways. For nurturing the keen to conquer interests of Vanam, Mrs Mamta Gupta sports teacher of JMA also takes credit. Vanam will undergo further training for shot put and discus throw for participating in the national level championship to be held in December 2011.

It is indeed a matter of pride that Vanam excels not only in sports but other extra curricular activities also. In the Itihas Parishad All India Hindi debate competition held at Birla School Pilani on 11 September 2010, Vanam along with Himakshi Alaria brought top spot for JMA. Vanam joined JMA in 2004 and according to Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan, Vanam truly believes in bringing glory to his alma mater by his achievements unlike alumni of many institutions who live in the glory of their alma mater.
