Tim Hopkinson is keen to build on on Hargreaves strong position in the construction market.

Tim Hopkinson, the new chief executive at ventilation ductwork specialist Senior Hargreaves, is adopting a business as usual approach as he takes over from former managing director, Kevin White. Tim is keen to build on the knowledge and experience in the business that has given Hargreaves a solid foundation in the currently turbulent construction market.

Tim joins Hargreaves from a construction and building services background. His career journey, from an apprenticeship in the Derbyshire steel industry to board director with a South Yorkshire electrical and mechanical services contractor, included an extensive period in the electrical contracting industry. Tim has also completed an MBA at Liverpool University to enhance his business knowledge and skills.

Commenting on the challenges of his new role Tim noted, “Kevin has handed on to me an experienced board and executive team, a sound business with a good reputation and strong construction industry connections. There are unprecedented challenges in construction, but I have no doubts that we are well placed to meet them, consolidate our position and grow as the economy improves.”

Hargreaves is one of the oldest companies in Bury, having been established in the 1870’s. They remain one of the town’s largest private sector employers. Their factory buildings have been extensively redeveloped and modernised over the last five years as part of the introduction of lean manufacturing and to improve environmental performance and sustainability.

Senior Hargreaves, part of Senior Plc, has been associated with some of the most significant construction projects in the UK, by working with leading engineers and architects. Such projects include the iconic Lloyds building, parts of Canary Wharf, Portcullis House the parliamentary office building and Foster and Partners landmark City Hall, the London mayoral building near Tower Bridge.

“Hargreaves is long established and well renowned within the ventilation industry and with the support of Senior Plc we intend to build upon this,” Tim concluded.
