Press release from: Vitis PR for Agilisys

/ PR Agency: Vitis PR
David Cotterell appointed Managing Director to spearhead private sector growth for Agilisys

London, 17 October 2011. Agilisys, one of the UK’s most innovative IT and business services providers, has expanded its cloud services offering by launching Agilisys Cloud Services, a managed IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) providing a suite of scalable, modular and customisable cloud services including infrastructure, co-location and hosting solutions, along with associated consultancy services, in Agilisys’ dedicated, highly secure, data centres across the UK.

Agilisys has identified a gap in the market for IaaS products aimed at the organisations who have recently entered the cloud and separately those who have yet to take advantage of cloud offerings. Self-service commodity-based IaaS services can be difficult for companies to manage as well as thoroughly understand and Agilisys has responded by developing a managed IaaS service that reduces production complexity and increases reliability.

In launching Agilisys Cloud Services, Agilisys is building on a strong heritage of providing managed IT services and consultancy to private and public sectors alike, a listing which includes Sky and Intrinsic Financial Services in the private sector, along with local government clients such as Hammersmith & Fulham and North Somerset Council.

The managed IaaS includes services such as the Cloud Readiness Check, which helps businesses and public sector organisations answer the question, “Are we ready to move to the cloud and will we benefit by doing so?” The readiness check evaluates an entity’s cloud initiatives, examining: people, processes, architecture and alignment with business goals.

Agilisys Cloud Services will initially include:
• Lightly managed IaaS for customers planning to (primarily) self-manage, while Agilisys is responsible for routine operations tasks such as system backup, monitoring and capacity management.
• Public or private cloud provision
• Hosted solutions (dedicated VDC, utility, co-location and multi-site disaster recovery provision)
• Test and development environments
• Multi-tenanted cloud apps provision
• Software as a Service (SaaS)
• Centralised telephony

The company will be adding further technology services to create a full flexible IaaS suite, which will also offer a range of SLAs to match differing customer requirements.

Agilisys Cloud Services will be led by newly appointed Managing Director, David Cotterell, who spent nine years with the AIM-listed software testing and quality assurance provider SQS, including five years as a main board director. David was responsible for a three-fold expansion of SQS’ business in the UK, Ireland and South Africa.

David commented: “Agilisys is well positioned to gain market share as we have already developed a comprehensive range of cloud services including fully hosted solutions, application management through to hosting test and development environments. Agilisys is targeting organisations yet to fully exploit the cloud and we are continuing to develop further IaaS-based products for that market, as well as looking at how this technology can support our existing public sector partnerships. All our cloud solutions will focus on delivering business value underpinned by excellent customer service and support.”

David’s appointment brings him into one of the most successful privately held IT services groups in the UK with a turnover last year close to £100 million. He will lead the cloud services business in an organisation which is built around the core values of innovation, passion, and integrity – and one committed to creating client value through excellent service and people development.

David continued: “There’s no doubt that the cloud has created new opportunities for cost savings and business agility. It enables the next phase of development in managed services by allowing businesses of all sizes to support and launch products and services, without the accompanying costs of maintaining in-house IT infrastructure.”

Kay Andrews, Agilisys CEO, concluded: “Cloud is seen as a major growth area for Agilisys and given David’s background of successfully building IT businesses we are delighted he is taking this leadership role. The cloud market is still relatively immature, but the services are evolving rapidly and are swiftly changing the vendor landscape – as a proven services vendor, Agilisys is determined to play its full part. We already have several best-in-class data centres supporting the public sector and this proven platform is underpinning Agilisys Cloud Services for the private sector.”
