Former AC/DC Bassist Mark Evans: "Angus Young was Intense. He Was AC/DC 100 Percent"

Press release from: Bazillion Points

MusicRadar.com recently conducted an lengthy interview with former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans about his new book, Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside AC/DC. In the interview, Evans details life on the road with Bon Scott, how Angus and Malcolm Young found their guitar sounds, and how the band worked during the first several albums:

"With Angus and Malcolm, they were put on this earth to form AC/DC. They're committed big-time. Angus was intense. He was AC/DC 100 percent. His work ethic was unbelievable. When I was with him, he expected everybody to be just like him, which is pretty impossible. Aside for Malcolm, there was no way anybody could be as committed to the band as he was. I was totally into AC/DC and never wanted out of the band for a second. I have a lot of respect for the guys in AC/DC. What they've done is incredible. And we had a lot of great times together, we really did... We were really honing the classic AC/DC sound. The steady, pounding rhythms; the hard-edged, twin-guitar attack; the in-your-face vocals-it was all right there. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was honest. It was something everyone could relate to."

In 1975, nineteen-year-old Aussie rocker Mark Evans walked into a local bar to check out a band, and his life would never be the same. Within days, he played his first show as bass player of AC/DC. A week later he was on national TV, alongside devious schoolboy Angus Young and the wild singer Bon Scott-dressed as a pigtailed, cigarette-smoking schoolgirl and waving a mallet. In the next few years Mark toured internationally, and appeared on the groundbreaking and platinum-selling AC/DC releases High Voltage, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock, and the '74 Jailbreak EP.

Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC brings the gripping, laugh-out-loud tale of a band that lived fast and played harder than anyone else. The first bio by a band insider during the early years, the book details the struggles and personalities behind the rise of hard rock's most successful group; with guest spots by rock n' roll icons like George Harrison, Gene Simmons, Phil Lynott, and members of Metallica. In his honest and revealing memoir, Mark Evans contends with life's many turns: A rough-as-nails upbringing, lucky breaks, soaring highs, and terrible personal loss and tragedy. It was a long way to the top...and he was just getting started.
