Once the examination is complete, the doctor will then determine what the treatment plan should be and they discuss the plan with the patient, and their parents or guardians.”

The process is made easier at Arizona Orthopaedic Associates at Gateway because of the x-ray and MRI equipment available on location.

“Our patients don’t have to leave to have their x-rays completed and then wait for the results to come back from another facility,” Dr. Hartzler said. “We have the x-rays done on site and can review the film while the patient is here.”

The process is intended to put parents at ease, by getting their children in quickly to see a doctor and allowing treatment to begin as soon as possible, instead of several days after the initial accident occurs.
