Press release from: ColorTyme

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Oct. 6, 2011 – There’s no rest for the weary as accomplished ColorTyme franchisee Mark Childers wraps up four years of service on the Franchise Advisory Council (FAC). Just as he completes his second and final year as FAC chairman, he accepts the position of president of the Alaska Rental Dealers Association (ARDA), a state-wide nonprofit trade organization.

“It’s a great honor and privilege for me to be elected as ARDA president. With my four-year stint on the ColorTyme FAC coming to an end, the timing couldn’t have been better,” said Childers. “I look forward to supporting rent-to-own interests legislatively and making the industry better for dealers and customers throughout the state.”

ARDA is the official voice of the rent-to-own in Alaska. As president, Childers will represent rental dealers in the state and be responsible for their participation in protecting and promoting the industry. He will also be involved in various events, conference calls and meetings with other state association leaders in conjunction with the Association of Progressive Rental Organizations (APRO) State Association Coordinating Committee.

Bill Keese, APRO’s executive director, nominated Childers for the role stating that he is uniquely qualified for the tasks placed before him.

“We are proud that Mark has taken over the reigns as president of the Alaska Rental Dealers Association,” he said. “Mark has a proven record of leadership and innovation that is necessary in organizing and leading a state association. His enthusiasm for business and our industry is unsurpassed, and he will make a fine leader in Alaska and beyond.”

Childers owns four ColorTyme rent-to-own stores in Alaska and two in Washington. These stores consistently rank in the top tier of financial performance, and Childers’ company, Right Now Mgmt, has achieved the top spot on ColorTyme’s highly contested Top 10 franchise ranking two times in the last three years.

ColorTyme, Inc., founded in 1979, is America’s oldest franchisor of independently owned-and-operated rent-to-own stores. ColorTyme franchisees operate 194 rent-to-own stores in 33 states, and the company’s custom-wheels-and-tires franchise brand, RimTyme, operates 20 stores in 11 states. ColorTyme is headquartered in Plano, Texas, and is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of the largest RTO company in the world, Rent-A-Center (NASDAQ: RCII).
