The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office announces the Palm Beach County Substance abuse coalition was awarded 125k drug-free community support program by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

This coalition serves the Palm Beach County FL, an urban area of 1.2 million in population. The goals of this coalition is to establish and strengthen the collaboration of among the palm beach county substance abuse coalition partner organizations in support of the communities effort to prevent and reduce youth substance abuse and to reduce substance abuse among youth in palm beach county Florida and overtime reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the issues in our community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse and the coalition will achieve its goals by implementing these three strategies: media advocacy, increased enforcement and changes in policy.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says “If I could accomplish one thing and reduce the amount of substance abuse that happens in this community then I could walk away from this job and say I really accomplish something.”

The National, State, county and city officials including Sheriff Ric Bradshaw along with medical professionals in Palm Beach County met to inform the public on September 16, 2011 about the growing problem of drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse within the county. They also announced plans for raising private money to help people who need treatment.

Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw is a career law enforcement professional responsible for leading the largest law enforcement agency in Palm Beach County. Sheriff Bradshaw has a successful track record of forty years in law enforcement.
